EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Retreat Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Retreat Start Day and Arrival Day?

Arrival Day is one day prior to Retreat Start Day. That is the day when participants arrive at the accommodation facility and check-in. Arrival Day and Check-in Day are the same and counted as Day 0. Refer to Program Itinerary to know what you do on these days.

Is Departure Day and Checkout day the same?

Yes. Your Departure Day and Check-out Day are the same. It is the last day of your Retreat and is counted as Day 7. Refer to Program Itinerary to know what you do on this day.

Will I be able to participate in the retreat if I am not staying with the group?

Yes, however there are some caveats. We encourage participants to stay at the retreat location as that provides opportunities for a deeper social connection with everyone including your Retreat Director. While we can include participants who have their stay arrangements elsewhere, you would need to make sure that you arrive on time for the first activity of the day on your itinerary and not leave until the last activity of your itinerary is complete for everyone.

You will need to sign a code of conduct and agree to all the terms and conditions of this exclusive arrangement.

Does the Retreat Director stay with the participants at the same site?

Yes. However, your Retreat Director might choose to be away from the site during YOT (Your Own Time) periods.

Will I be able to choose my meals based on my health needs?

Everyone at the retreat will be expected to eat the same nutritious, balanced Satwik food prepared using yogic and ayurvedic principles in mind. This food is also an integral part of your experience in this retreat and helps in the balance that you will be achieving during this time. Your individual health needs will be assessed during your free Ayurvedic consultation with Dr Prafullata Rajput long before you come for the retreat. At that time if there are any specific medical requirements (like allergies or severe intolerances) that requires us to customise your meals, that will be done. This is however at the discretion of Dr Prafullata Rajput.

If you have special dietary preferences which are not connected to medical needs like Keto, Vegan, Fruitarian, Pescatarian, Gluten free etc you can choose to avoid the Satwik meal and organise your own food. The Retreat Admin Manager can help you work with the site to orgnanise this, however, you will need to settle the cost of this directly with the hotel.

Unfortunately we will not be able to give any discounts or make adjustments against the cost of Satwik food that is included in the Retreat even if you choose to not eat it.

Is Airport pickup and drop included in the package?

Yes, for groups starting from 4 people who are travelling together, airport pickups and drops are free to and fro Dabolim Airport (Airport code GOI). For flights landing in Mopa Airport (Airport code:GOX) groups will need to pay a little extra for their pickup and drop as that airport is significantly further away from your Retreat location.

For individuals and couples, airport pickup is not included, however, can be offered to and fro both airports at a cost that is significantly lower than what you would normally pay in Goa through a private car rental. You can discuss this with your Retreat Admin Manager before you signup and make the necessary arrangements.

Whether you want us to organise your pickup and drop or want other arrangements, our Retreat Admin Manager is available to offer support with logistics, free of cost.

If I don’t want to share a room with someone, can I opt for a single room?

How far is the place from the nearest public transport system?

Five minutes walk from your accommodation will get you to Colva Beach Public Transport Station. Unfortunately, Goa’s public transportation system is not great. Near the beaches, it is heavily dependent on local private bus operators who run buses that have free seating and don’t always run on time. There are local private auto-rickshaws and motorcycle taxis that are moderately priced.

Does Goa have Ride Sharing Apps or Apps like Uber and Ola.

How much money should I allocate for the staff tips?

India does not have a tipping culture. People providing services do not expect tips. However, if you are genuinely impressed with someone’s service or you want to thank someone for going the extra mile, you can tip. Usually a 50-100 INR tip is appreciated per transaction. If you want to tip any particular staff member for the entire retreat duration, 300-500 INR is a good token of appreciation. You do not need to tip the management staff like Admin Managers, Hotel Managers, Chefs or Reception Managers. Sometimes a little card with a small gift instead of a tip could be better received in Indian culture.

Do I need to carry cash for the local shopping?

Most establishments in Goa like restaurants, supermarkets and hairdressers will accept Credit and Debit cards. If you intend to buy groceries from small tuck shops or pharmacies or roadside fruit vendors you might require cash.

Can I invite someone who is not a part of the Retreat to be in my room or stay in the same accommodation as mine or come to observe me during my activities?

We do not encourage people who are not on the Retreat to be with you in the same accommodation. This dilutes the experience for you. Others are not allowed to come and observe your activities in the Retreat as that is a breach of privacy for the other participants.

Any exceptions made for carers, accompanying children or others are at the discretion of the Retreat Director.

Can my children participate with me in the Retreat?

Older children can participate with their guardians in the Retreat, however, parents will need to sign a consent for them. They will only be permitted to attend activities where their guardians are present. This is to ensure Children’s safety. Children below 18 years of age will not be permitted to stay or be in a room which could have some other participants other than their legal guardians.
